i think that if you've bought both games, you should be able to choose from the full set of faces and hair when creating a character. I would love to be able to use the new female necro hairstyles with the face i love from the Tyrian side. It would bring alot more combinations and diversity to the game imo.

Agree with this. Instead of just offering Prophecy faces, I hope Anet offers more new faces. They could be "Asian", Middle-eastern, Indian, etc.
Asia is a big place, and I don't think the present Canthan faces represent all Asian faces...

I like how they make each campaign unique. I would like the ability to change hair color and styles of existing characters (and say not allow you to change a c1 character's hairsytle to c2 until after you been there) but not the faces and restirct face's for each campaign.

/signed beacuse i agree that some of the new faces don't look that great But my solution would be i simply think there should have been more faces/hairstyles to choose from.
/notsigned beacuse i agree that canthan characters are from cantha and tyria characters are from tyria.

/signed I think Redly said it best!
We have a guy in our guild who is Chinese and he was able to make his Tyrians look very Asian long before Factions - so Why can't we have whites/blacks/purples in Cantha?
However I can also agree with the post above mine!

To the "White Assassin" and such similar comments:
Maybe because there is no one to instruct Assassins or Ritualistis in Tyria? It may be a very traditional profession to which is only taught in the land of Cantha.
--
To the "moving around" comments:
You have to remember, this isn't like modern day migration. You can't just safely pack up and leave.
The people that left Ascalon were essentially banished for their decision to leave. They faced a LOT of hardships while leaving, it took HEROs to lead them there (despite there being 1000s of Player Characters, a "Hero" is rare in the storyline.) Even once they got there, it took a lot of work to get them set up. And that was a relatively small distance to move, on the same continent no-less.
You need money, contacts, luck and protection. Something that many of the people may not have access to.
Sure a few might move here and there, but they'd be refugees at best, probably not really well accepted into a rigid, traditional society. The percentage of them that would be "exceptional" (read: Hero material), let alone accepted for training has to be a VERY small percentage. Which, could translate into not having a facial representation.
Facial options, despite them being options to us, translates into a percentage of the "heros." So if they add more out-of-culture faces, you're essentially saying "1/x" of the heros are of that culture (x being the number of faces.)
You want a hero to be of a Prophecy-esq culture to be in Cantha... Make one, and catch a boat in Lion's Arch. Will it take a bit? Yeah, but it shouldn't be "easy" to jump continents either.
As a side note: One could argue its easier to get to and secure a ship to Tyria from Cantha, simply because Cantha is a smaller continent with the "main civilized" area having a large coast line. Of course, you need just as "large" as a reason to cross the seas.
Another side note: I could see reasons for some cultural additions to the "face models" but that would only be prompted by a large disaster or other reason to explain mass migration. Otherwise, why would someone who barely knows about the outside world, something that's scary and unknown, leave their safety? (Chances are the answer to that proves my earlier point)
--
Onto the Black face models.
Well, there could be several reasons.
First could be legal/politically correctness. These things can be sensative situation and perhaps ANet wanted to just bypass that as an issue.
Another? Well remember, the global population isn't meant to reflect our own. Yes, they use Earth as a lot of source/design ideas, but it hardly reflects it (other than in appearance of people, and moderate groupings.)
Perhaps some great calamity occured in the "Black" homeland and that caused them to leave en mas, thus spreading out across the world.
Perhaps they are very good shipwrights and they have spread throughout the world due to their handiness with waterways.
Side Note, part 3: Perhaps for the African themed continent there won't be a majority of black/dark skinned persons. Perhaps only the land, animals, etc. are used for source materials. Just a thought, as I said, the world of Guild Wars doesn't have to reflect our world. Similar sure, exact? Hardly.

I like having a bit of variety to the faces. I don't mean a huge number of faces that all look the same, but alot of faces are similar (and ugly). I do think a few ugly faces are important, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder (my guildmates think my Ele is ugly... he's not).
I'm not exactly signing it, I just want more options for characters.

The Asian faces look a bit wierd next to the Gothic architecture of the Echovald Forest.
I would just like some more options for my characters.

Ascalon citizens were white. Krytans were, at best, a coffee-coloured Jamaican skintone. If the Visier is any indication, the Orrians were also white. It appears that the Elonian ghosts were also white...
Tyria is full of white people. So someone, PLEASE explain the black-coloured warriors running around. For that matter, please explain how me and two of my guildies managed to create these warriors of very different ethnicities long ago with only Prophecies skins.
We have a precedent for this. Why restrict our creativity, for the sake of maintaining an Asian feel? ANet, seriously, half your fanbase is made of Japanimation freaks who will make All Things Asian no matter what, so.... it's safe to let us make black Ritualists, etc.
/signed, because ANet signed this themselves when they made the Prophecies skins

There is none to zero "Negroid" warrior model in Prophecies, or let's just say African as your posting seems to imply. The so-called "black man" from your picture is more from the Indian region. Look at his face, it has clearly europid features. Don't make things up. It's not the skin defining it but the morphology/bone structure.

As a purchaser of both Factions and Prophecies I would like to be able to choose from both sets of faces, you dont have to be an asian character in cantha, thats pretty one-sided.
Besides, Its not like this is going to affect anyone else but you as the chooser. Its purely cosmetic.

/signed. It is silly not to allow it.
If you own the game, you should be able to choose, skintone, face, hair, and hair color from any of the games you own.
Also the game manual indicates there was trade between Ascalon, other tyrian govs, and Cantha. It would have been possible to immigrate there. Also, Mhenlo was went to shing jea for training under Togo, so it is unreasonable to say he was/should be the only person to do so. It is basically exchange student schooling.

You said it. I actually took that feature for granted when I added the Factions key to my account, and was rather disappointed when I found out that was not the case.
